Temp Just Right and Then a Flood (sigh) - Kickstarter Is Coming
Two gorgeous days. In the 70's and humidity down. No need to sweat. Then, 4 inches two nights ago and 2-3 more inches came over the 4th. (Sheesh...)
Hi,
Again ICYMI: I changed my newsletter title. More logical and descriptive of what I do. Two nice days, then a rain storm, flood, and back to normal humidity. Cows are smart enough to stay out of the high water. Mostly.
Farming News - Still thirteen calves now. #11 is featured. Back to the humid weather, only interrupted with tons of rain.
Writing News - Serials are continuing, and now our first Kickstarter is showing its face(s)..
Expectancy - Using what works gives you more of what works.
Farming News
Here’s Calf Number 11 Another new heifer.
More cute patterns… Her momma’s name is Long Eyes. This is her first calf. Dad is the Big Red hereford bull. She’s a “black-white-face”, which is a very popular composite (as opposed to pure bred) as there’s something called “hybrid vigor” where the cow has immunity from both sides and is very long-lived.
Send me your ideas for a name - comment on Substack or reply to this email.
Still expecting a total of 17 this spring. Only 4 to go - now we are getting later day by day. I walked around them this morning, and they are all “closer”. But if they don’t have them by the time the bull goes in (around mid/late July) then that backs everything up for her and any calf being in sync with everyone else.
It shouldn’t have been a surprise after two steamy days of 95+ degree days. All that energy in the atmosphere. So it boiled over for a few minutes, local to this area, and when the rain started, those angry clouds condensed into a solid gray overcast - and the winds became more uniform and lesser.
Two Days of Rain
The weather was great for berry picking (see below) and what not - then this happened:
We got 4 inches which was a gully washer that made me get out the tractor and blade to flatten the driveway again. That rain had cut some channels in the drive that tended to drop off nearly a 18 inches at points. A bit rough driving, especially in low-slung cars.
We did have to take the long way to get to town. Because the “creek was out” meaning, it flooded some roads:
And this is after it went down some. At it’s height, it was close to 3 foot deep and covered most of that downstream guardrail.
Tiny Home News
Still picking blackberries in the early morning. My wife got a visit from one of our bulls while she was out picking the other day. He just wanted to see if she had any special treats for him. So she talked to him and moved away to some other berries. And he decided that the grass where he was needed trimming and stayed there.
We want our bulls calm, but not overly friendly. (Don’t ever, EVER get inside a fence with a bull you don’t know. Ours are the very rare exception.)
Oh - I went around this morning and found some more domesticated thornless blackberries at the other end. While making a mental note to get some weeding done, plus setting those vine tips into the ground to root and expand the patch next year.
Writing News
2nd chapter of the Cashflow Code arrived. Follow this serial…
And if you can’t wait to see how the story turns out, I’ve posted it as a beta-reader download below.
I just got the proof back. My in-house proofer liked it - said it was simple to understand.
Still working up the Kickstarter (more below) and toying with whether I should put it at the front of the main book - making this a 300-page tome…
The other serial (this one is fiction) that I have going is The Saga of Erotika Jones, which is coming out every Saturday. Yes, that book is available in both ebook and paperback…

Thanks for your votes on last week’s poll.
Here’s the final cover in the new Kickstarter artwork:
Kickstarter Previews Arrive
Did the video and opening graphic. I’m working through all the details about the levels of support, and the “Story” section as a glorified sales page.

A New Special Offer:
For a short time, the beta-readers version of Cracking the Cashflow Code is now available. It will be available at this link until I start the Kickstarter release, you can download the new and improved edition (especially if you already have it from earlier.)
That link is also Pay What You Want - a nice way to donate.
Here’s the link: https://livingsensical.gumroad.com/l/CashflowCode
AN ASK: if you’ve downloaded it, please give some feedback. Leave it in the comments, send me an email. Something, anything. Like it, could be better.
NOTE: This will be a bonus for the Kickstarter. Publishing decisions will be in the next few weeks.
Expectancy
An interesting dream last night reminded me that I’ve spent my life finding things that work. And publishing books that had tips and tricks to living.
It brought up the fact that if you concentrate on finding things that work, you’ll find a lot of workable things. “As ye seek, so shall ye find.”
People who simply work at finding stuff to criticize are investing in finding stuff that doesn’t. So what do they wind up with? Right.
It’s all Golden Rule stuff. Keep refining your life in terms of treating others how you’d like to be treated and after awhile it becomes a habit. Life evens out and gets simpler. Plus, you get a lot of people interested in helping you.
Just the way it goes.
And soon (once the dust settles) I’m going to turn that vast library of workable inside my Gumroad site over for free to my Founding Member patrons. It only takes a single discount code. Meanwhile, I’ll be getting busy republishing those books through Kickstarter campaigns as sets and libraries.
That’s what’s really useful about being 60-some years old. Lots of compiled wisdom to share.
Thanks for being there, opening this.
Sharing is caring. You’re who I do this all for. I value your input.
Leave a comment if something strikes your fancy.
I hope your life is not too interesting to be overwhelming, but sufficiently engaging to keep you amused. (Like some of us here...)

PS. Again, you can always email me about anything.
PPS. Again, do upgrade to the paid newsletter version. That helps me keep the lights on - so I can keep all this coming to you. As much or little as you want…
(Meanwhile, I’ve put my archived newsletters and articles all available as free on Substack, instead of behind a paywall.)
AND you can always buy me a coffee…
Here’s that new beta-reader advanced copy:
