[Living Sensical] Big Storm Hits - More Brewing...
Nice waves of repeating storms across the Midwest - and heading east. Snug and safe here...
Hi,
Our course is continuing. Just the daily chore of posting and sharing. You get the fun part of reading them alll

Storm came in and dumped a few inches. Cows got their bales:
After the storm, the bales were down low enough for some calves to find a nice siesta area:
While I thought/hoped to have another week, this snow came with surplus. It’s supposed to rain tonight, which will tend to thaw out some of it - and fill the culverts and ponds with run-off. Already some of the culvert areas are filling up after being dry for months, just from the melting.
Two more waves of real winter weather still predicted (while Iowa and parts north are due to have it much worse).
Still, some relatives dropped off and topped off some more wood for us:
That blue dog dish will be keeping water for dogs, cats, and peacocks during the next few days.
Tiny Home
Has survived all this snow better than expected It’s the design of that roof.
Here’s a couple of interesting shots:
Other than accidentally leaving the door cracked open, the little space heater is holding it’s own. I fully expect to be sleeping in Long Johns for those bitter cold evenings - since I’ll be out in them during the day with minus wind chills regardless.
One critter got an upgrade - that cat who likes our front porch. She got a box against the snow (cats love cardboard, and it’s somewhat insulated.) And then I found an unused dog bed heater to put under it, as well as a piece of particle board to keep the west wind away. We’ve ordered her a heated little box with a door flap - which is advertised for feral cats. (Our other cats will do fine in all this, BTW, but the wife has her concerns, so…) And - I also got her an extra heated water dish for said cat and our other local pets…
Writing News
The original newsletter list is apparently getting everything I send out to my (now) five newsletter parts - which isn’t supposed to happen. Still, it looks like you all appreciate the varied writings and course lessons.
The lessons are going out daily, regardless of anything. I’m on Substack for a couple hours every day, writing. And the chat is live if you want to participate. It can be accessed online or through the app. Since I’m there, I might as well talk to someone meanwhile.
There are two books almost ready - and I’m going to pull the social media out of one and swap it for the regular material in the other. Because that social media is a red herring and doesn’t produce anything (if you can name one scientific breakthrough or cultural advancement - I’m all ears. But author’s using social media to pitch their books simply doesn’t work.
So one book is the evergreen material on how to write, publish, and market books. The other is a review of my 6-month intensive discovery and testing of what is supposedly the best practices for building audiences. (Hint: takes 18 months to 2 years to get any traction.)
And I may start in on my copywriting research shortly. Because it’s an itch that needs scratching.
I still have a lot to learn about Substack, and will compile what I find out at some point. Not too surprising: the things that make a successful writer on this platform are common, evergreen, and eternal.
It all leads me back to getting Walter S. Campbell’s stuff revamped for our modern age.
When time permits…
Thanks again for opening this. And reading these books.
And leaving a rating on the Living Sensical site for the stuff you buy there.
As well as leaving recommendations on Bookbub in addition to reviews anywhere else.
You know, that "paying it forward" kinda thing.
Do keep sharing these books with your friends, too.
I hope your life is not too interesting to be overwhelming, but sufficiently engaging to keep you amused. (Like some of us here...)
Robert
PS. Again, you can always email me about anything.
PPS. Do upgrade to the paid newsletter version. That helps me keep the lights on - so I can keep this coming to you.
