[Writerpreneur OS] Day 2, Lesson 0102 - How Any Writer Gets Whatever They Want Out of Life
Getting that bestselling book starts with knowing the eternal Rules that make all success
It's pretty simple. Too much so.
And I've already shown you some notable writers who did it - who left their trail for you to follow.
There are some caveats - but it's still true that all successes can be traced back to those few principles.
Do read on. And mind the gap...
There are rules, there are Rules, and there are RULES.
To get anything you want, the first one is that:
"Treat people the way you want to be treated." This is, of course, the Golden Rule. And it's found in all the major and minor religions and philosophies throughout our written history.
And this was also known before then. Those who practice it succeed.
It's caveats are a few:
1 - You can't get without giving - in advance. There is no such thing as a free lunch, or free beer.
2 - And so, you only get as good as you give. Zig Ziglar was known to say, "You can get anything you want out of life. As long as you help a lot of people get whatever they want out of life."
3 - Conversely, what goes around comes around - treat people badly and it will backfire on you. Wayne Dyer said, "The way you treat others teaches them how to treat you."
Another Rule: Earl Nightingingale coined it in his Gold Recording, The Strangest Secret: "We Become What We Think About."
And that's pretty simple. He found it said by many, many people. When you look for it, you'll find it also in all these other landmark texts.
Which lends to a third Rule: As you expect, you'll receive.
Of course, these three Rules blend with each other. The second two may just be corollaries. But at any rate, you can test them all for yourself.
All success starts with a vision, but also with a dissatisfaction. Some particular thing can be improved. A life can be a glorious one instead of an dreary one. Writers have told this story over and over. Dickens' Christmas Carol. George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion and My Fair Lady.
The true life stories abound. Someone gets a vision and makes it a near obsession in their life. To the degree this helps others improve their own life, they'll get a lot of help. To the degree it's selfish, they'll crash and become a bitter shell of a human.
And so a life of breakthrough publishing successes that writers have is more often the result of a lot of writing. It's called "paying your dues". Nothing comes without giving. First. The one-shot wonders are just that. Until they then do the hard work of understanding how that marvelous breakthrough happened, so they can then repeat it. After that, it's almost magic.
Except it's not.
Things in this universe run on Rules.
Your life can be a roaring success. Or it can be a mundane, slavish existence.
Check what vision you have of your own life, what you want it to be - what you keep in your mind all the time.
That's what's coming toward you.
Until you decide to change it.
And that is what's behind all writers and their successes.
