Lightning Storm Brings More New Calves... Mystery Promo
Only 4 more calves to go. A couple more new gorgeous ones this week. Meanwhile, writing the scripts for four TED-talk-length promo and course videos.
Hi,
Oh, I changed my newsletter title. More logical and descriptive of what I do. A huge lightning storm pass us by, but left us with two new calves. Now only expect 4 more. That promo script turned out to be a mystery story, which is a newish approach to non-fiction.
Farming News - Up to thirteen calves now. #8 is featured. Lightning storm brought these last two surprises. More tiny home garden news.
Writing News - Re-writing promo script into a mystery format..
Expectancy - It’s a daily habit. Dug up a video for you from the archives.
Farming News
Here’s Calf Number 9! Another new heifer calf.
Marvelous patterns… Momma’s name is Comma.
Certainly won’t have problems identifying her when she’s larger and can’t hide in the tall grass anymore.
Send me your ideas for a name - comment on Substack or reply to this email.
(UPDATE: We’re up to 13 calves now! Still expecting a total of 17 this spring. Over half-way and 4 to go. Have to start keeping a card in my pocket for the momma still left to watch.
A huge lightning storm last week brought me two surprise calves I found later. Cute little things. But if you don’t get them that first day, they have their energetics legs under them after that - and make catching them much harder.
Cows got out into the neighbor’s corn yesterday - for the second time. In this heat, you don’t have a choice about waiting for it to cool off - you just have to get out and get them back in. Of course, when they waded out into a shaded water gap, I was a bit jealous - momentarily.
But they got in and we have them behind stronger fencing now. And plans are to get up about daylight tomorrow to get some fencing repairs done. While taking a large jug of iced water along.
Tiny Home News
Most of the plants are going along fine. We’re getting some vegetables from my Mother’s garden while ours are now mostly coming along just fine.
I’ll probably be watering before breakfast tomorrow - setting up the sprinkler to carry while I cook my pan bread. Still some tweaks to do on the tiny home proper - a drying line is next. But we are appreciative of the small AC I mounted in the front wall. (I think I covered that earlier.) Far better and more efficient than the portable A/C we’ve worked with for the last couple of years.
Writing News
More on the videos scripts. I hit an impasse as it was too dry. Then I figured out that I needed to write it as a 3 Act investigatory mystery. Then it all fell into place. I had the villains, I had their crimes, Writers and authors were the victims. I had to find out how they did all this, and how to move the writers out from under their grasp so that the crime didn’t happen to them again. Simple. Somewhat like Gladwell’s stuff, only more dramatic. (And who doesn’t like engaging sustpence?)
Rearranged a few chapters and sections, and now it’s moving again. I hope to have the core work on this done this coming week.
New cover and title - Survey:
Need your help with this one. These are the three catchy ones I could come up with. (But you can also give me your ideas. Also for the subtitle.)
Kickstarter Research
Still finding time to get more research done on Kickstarter. Found several authors who are making a good income from releasing this way.
I have to wrap up this mystery non-fiction I’m writing to get back to working on this. You’ll get the preview as soon as I have something on the page.
The Recurring Special Offer:
For a short time, the beta-readers version of Writerpreneur OS is still available. Until I start the Kickstarter release, you can download the new and improved edition (especially if you already have it from earlier.)
That link is now Pay What You Want - a nice way to donate.

See if you can find more oopsies. Leave comments, reviews. Ask questions.
It’s just north of 250 pages these days, depending on format. Available are epub and PDF. No charge. (Free download, in other words.)
Nearly 20 years of writing-publishing-entrepreneuring - all rolled into a single book. And updated. Condensed.
AN ASK: if you’ve downloaded it, please give some feedback. Leave it in the comments, send me an email. Something, anything. Like it, could be better.
NOTE: This will be first released as a Kickstarter special edition, in paperback and hardback, as well as ebook. Exclusive to that platform…
Expectancy
There’s a magic in your believing. And this is exactly how you create the actuality around you. It took me a lot of testing to validate this for myself. But this is where you’re headed once you start to take over your own expectancies - instead of just accepting what others tell you is “reality”.
Again, daily practice makes it a habit. And such an engrained habit makes success attainable for anyone.
Thanks for being there, opening this.
Sharing is caring. You’re who I do this all for. I value your input.
Leave a comment if something strikes your fancy.
I hope your life is not too interesting to be overwhelming, but sufficiently engaging to keep you amused. (Like some of us here...)

PS. Again, you can always email me about anything.
PPS. Again, do upgrade to the paid newsletter version. That helps me keep the lights on - so I can keep all this coming to you. As much or little as you want…
PPPS. I’m considering putting my entire library up (digital versions) for the Patron (Founding Member) level. I’ve done that before in parts, as many of you know. Do let me know what you think about that idea. Reply to this email, or leave a comment on my Substack page for this.
(Meanwhile, I’ve put my archived newsletters and articles all available as free, instead of behind a paywall.)
AND you can always buy me a coffee…
Voted. I love the beautiful calves! So cute and adorable. 🥰
Suggestion for name - Loretta Lou or Daisy Delight
